Activities in Cohasset
Library staff, trustees, and Friends are committed to offering high quality information, resources and programming to the Cohasset community and beyond. We work to ensure that all citizens have equal access to information, and that all persons are welcomed and served by professional staff dedicated to providing outstanding services.
Library services have been a valued part of the Cohasset community for 170 years. During that time the focus and location of the library has changed to meet the times, but its role as a town treasure has remained constant.

The Cohasset Carillon is one of the few in the world with a range sufficient to permit the performance of every piece of music composed for carillon.
Located in the Gothic stone tower of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, the instrument was originally cast as a 23 bell carillon in 1924 by Gillet & Johnston of Croydon, England. It was originally called the Bancroft Memorial Carillon, the gift of Mrs. Jane W. Bancroft in memory of her mother, Mrs Jessie M. Barron. In 1925 twenty more bells were added, and in 1928 the eight lower bells were installed. In 1989-1990 the Carillon was renovated and enlarged to fifty-seven bells by the John Taylor Bell Foundry of Loughborough, England. It is now the largest Carillon (by bell count) in New England. ( The 54 bell carillon at Yale University is the largest by weight).

For nearly 60 years, the South Shore Music Circus and it’s sister venue, the Cape Cod Melody Tent, have been presenting world-class entertainment in the scenic Massachusetts coastal communities of Cohasset and Hyannis. The only two continuously-operated tent theatres in the round in the United States, the Music Circus and Melody Tent are owned and operated by the South Shore Playhouse Associates, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting the arts, cultural and educational organizations throughout the communities of the South Shore and Cape Cod. With a colorful history dating back to its humble beginning in 1932 in Cohasset, Massachusetts, one interwoven with the fabric of summer theatre history on the east coast, our theatres have emerged as popular destinations for patrons and performers alike, providing a relaxed ambiance and intimate theatre experience where every seat is within 50 feet of the stage.

Cohasset Swim Center
The Cohasset Swim Center is a Privately Owned, Non-Profit Organization. It is managed by a group of volunteers serving on the Board of Trustees and Board of Managers. This is an outdoor pool with a large 6 lane pool, a medium size pool about 3 feet deep and a baby pool. The CSC is open from late June until late August/early September.
Our mission is to make sailing and the ocean accessible to Cohasset’s citizens. We give special emphasis to starting them at a young age with a Junior Program for 4th-graders on up.
We also make it affordable. This is Cohasset’s best value; made possible by low fees, our annual Lobsterfest fundraiser, the donations in time and financial contributions of our active trustees and members and benefactors such as South Shore Playhouse Trustees (Music Circus), Esposito’s Nursery and Talk of the Town caterers.
